Roman Era Glass beads are made from ancient glass found in archaeological sites in areas of the ancient Roman Empire in the Middle East. Several beads have a natural iridescent patina formed from being buried for centuries in the desert sands.
Egyptians of the Old and Middle Kingdoms were among the first to use glass in their material culture. At its peak, the Roman Empire controlled much of the Mediterranean Sea region 508-27 BCE.
