Chalcedony and Hematite Blacks Necklace
The centerpiece stone of Black Chalcedony shows brown and tan hues, with six smaller Chalcedony pieces. Hematite beads in various shapes alternate with the Chalcedony, with khaki colored seed beads of Czech glass. Brass lobster style clasp.
Chalcedony is a cryptocrystalline form of silica composed of fine intergrowths of quartz and moganite.
Black Chalcedony is considered to be a protective stone that promotes harmony of energies. Chalcedony (pronounced kal sed' nee) was found at the ancient Greek maritime town of Chalcedon on the Bosphorus straight in Asia Minor, modern-day Turkey. Chalcedony is one of the most ancient gemstones; it was carved into cylindrical seals in Mesotamia as early as the 7th century BCE.
The dense Hematite crystal has a metallic-like luster and a high iron content that is considered to be beneficial to the circulatory system and aids kidney functions. Hematite has been used by prehistoric peoples to draw on stone and was ground into pigment.
